Mrs. McGinty's Dead

By: Agatha Christie
Seemingly simple murder soon becomes convoluted mess as Poirot investigates. Possible scenarios quickly pile up on one another as nearly all the novel's numerous characters are cast under the shadow of suspicion - and I relished that complexity. One of my favorite Christie endings, because the twists that make everything so clear are ever so obvious once they're pointed out, yet veiled until that moment. A reappearance of the lovable Ariadne Oliver makes the novel even more delightful. (Fiction) 08/09/09
