Fashion Babylon
By:Imogen Edwards-Jones
Fashion Babylon was one of those books that reads like a narrative of the fashion industry when it is meant to read like the fictional story of a designer. What the book lacked in cohesive narration, Edwards-Jones made up for in outlandish story lines and wild characters. The author claims that some of the stories in the book are true accounts of the Hollywood fashion industry, which adds a level of believability to the unbelievable (but hilarious) characters. The book name-drops quite a bit, which is somewhat annoying after a while. The best aspect of the book is that Edwards-Jones doesn't attempt to cover up the dirtier sides of the industry. Rather, she presents a bold view of what really goes on behind the seams (and scenes) of the world's most glamorous industry. Review by Sarah. (Fiction) 07/15/09
