One Second After

By: William Forstchen
A post-apocalyptic novel, set in rural North Carolina after an attack on the U.S. that fries all electronics. The author intends a warning about our reliance on technology, our lack of alternatives, our blindness to our vulnerability, etc. A little clunky at times, but a slightly different take on what is needed to survive, and probably a realistic view of our survival rate. Very medical/military oriented. Despite the weak characterizations, I found the story riveting, and actually had nightmares the next two nights! (Fiction) 07/11/09
