The Last Templar

By: Raymond Khoury
In this New York Times Bestseller, Raymond Khoury spins a tale reminiscent of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code. With events occurring in both the ancient past and the modern world, Khoury tells the story of an ancient secret, long guarded by the mysterious Templar Knights, one which has long been lost to history for centuries. When a mysterious group of men dressed as Knights attacks and raids the Metropolitan Museum of Art during a gala for their new exhibit of Vatican artifacts, and goes as far as to murder a guard on the front steps, only to retrieve an ancient coding machine, it becomes clear that someone is after the Templars’ lost treasure. It’s up to archaeologist Tess Chaykin and FBI Investigator Sean Reilly to unravel the ancient mystery of the Templar Treasure, and retrieve the ancient coding machine. Through multiple countries around the world and even on the high seas, the adventure never stops as Tess and Sean dig deeper and deeper into an ancient past that many would and have killed over, only to discover a secret so shocking that it could destabilize the very foundations of Christianity. Through alternating chapters between the ancient past when the Templars' secret first came to be and the adventure that consumes Sean and Tess, we see a unique perspective of both the story basis forming at its inception as our modern heroes learn of those same events through their journey. I found this book riveting and couldn’t put it down, nearly staying up all night to finish it. Anyone who is a fan of The Da Vinci Code or any historical mysteries will love Khoury’s tale, one filled with adventure, suspense, and surprises up until the very last page. Review by Barron.
