Reading an outsider's response (here Nurse Leatheran's viewpoint) to Hercule Poirot is always interesting. Contemplating whether the murderer was the deceased's jilted, previously presumed dead husband, said husband's younger brother, or an outsider taking advantage of the situation was pleasantly mind boggling. The minor mysteries were fairly straightforward, but the identity of the murderer was ingenious. Nonetheless, the story felt too short, the ending a little too sudden. I would have appreciated greater exploration of characters and greater escalation of suspense. (Fiction) 07/09/09
