By: James P. Blaylock
Reclusive cartoonist travels to uncle's house to visit an ailing aunt, bearing a mysterious package that soon involves him in the curious doings of the village secret society. Nothing - plot, characters, or language - struck me as extraordinary. Almost everything in the novel seems to have been done before, and done better as well. Add in the fact that I found Blaylock's humor obnoxious and his protagonist unengaging, and a rather lackluster read results. (Fiction) 07/12/09
