Four witches team up with subjects of a deposed king to find the missing ruler and win back his kingdom from a treacherous cousin and an evil witch. Confrontations between characters often appear painfully contrived, while characters themselves seem appallingly flat. And language is weak, ungainly, unextraordinary to the extreme, further leeching vitality from an already fairly cliche story. (Fiction) 07/19/09
