Return To Sullivans Island

By: Dorothy Benton Frank
Beth, a recent college graduate, is pressured to put her life on hold for a year and return to the family's house on Sullivans Island. The plot was heavy-handed and the entire story lacked subtlety, probably because all of the characters were stereotypes: the dutiful daughter, the judgmental matriarch, the good ole boys, Mr. Wrong-but-oh-so-delicious, etc. Finally, the conflict was resolved much too easily. This was a dud and not as well written as Frank's earlier titles. Review by Merrill. (Fiction) 07/24/09
