Dickens is always a joy to read for language alone, but A Christmas Carol was very different from the usual convoluted Dickens novel, too short and simple for my tastes. I'm not sure I quite believe in Scrooge's sudden transformation, but nonethless a heartwarming, classic tale. (Fiction) 07/15/09
