This book is rich with language and culture. It shows the complexities of maintaining a friendship through writing, in which meaning can become obscured and conflict can arise. I enjoyed reading this book because I learned about Chinese traditions that I was not aware of. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to hear the story of two children whose deep friendship is intimate and pure, yet almost too good to be true. Review by Amy. (Fiction) 08/03/09
