The Leisure Seeker

By: Michael Zadoorian
Ella and John Robina are an elderly couple plagued with medical problems who hit the road (in their RV) and head to Disneyland. Actually, John doesn't decide to take a road trip; he has Alzheimer's Disease, and is frequently disoriented and isn't always certain WHO Ella may be. So, to rephrase, Ella decides that they WILL head off on a roadtrip! With Ella as the Captain in this journey, the story unfolds. We learn about their many years together, their two long-grown children, their hopes, dreams and fears. I really enjoyed this story because it was very touching to see the love and devotion between the couple. They certainly had arguments and a myriad of stressful circumstances/events that hit them during this trip. Some comical events were woven into this story, as well. Most people would have probably turned back to go home on such a trip, but not Ella; she is determined that they will get to Disneyworld no matter what happens. I really recommend this book; it gave me a glimpse into the life of a long-married couple who wanted to do something special for themselves. The ending is very surprising and unexpected.
